This Editorial Policy explains how The Akron Magazine researches, writes, and corrects its articles. It is the standard our editorial team follows for every biography, guide, and news story.
How we research: We start with public sources, including Wikipedia, official websites, reputable news reports, interviews, and public records. We look for more than one source for important facts where possible. When sources disagree, we note the disagreement or use the most reliable public source available, rather than presenting one side as settled.
How we write: Articles are written in simple, clear English for a general US audience. We avoid jargon, explain terms when they matter, and keep the focus on facts that help the reader. We do not accept guest posts, sponsored articles presented as editorial content, or paid link placements. Our team writes all articles in-house.
What we do not do: We do not publish private information, unverified rumors as facts, or claims we cannot trace to a public source. Net-worth figures, where included, are clearly treated as estimates from public reporting, not confirmed financial records. See our Disclaimer page for more detail.
Corrections: If an article contains an error, we will check it and correct it as soon as we can. Small corrections are made in the article itself. Larger corrections may be noted in the article so readers can see what changed.
Request a correction: To request a correction, email editor@theakronmagazine.com. Please include the article title and link, the exact statement you believe is wrong, and a link to a reliable public source that supports the correction. This helps us check the point quickly and fairly. We cannot guarantee every request will lead to a change, but every request is reviewed.
